Project GRAD Hamilton is
also proud to be a Project GRAD
school. Project GRAD is a
collaborative effort between
schools and the community to
address the educational needs of
an inner-city school system.
The philosophy guiding Project
GRAD is that all
pre-kindergarten through 12th
grade students can be effective
learners, regardless of
demographic background.
Project GRAD has
selected a number of curriculum
models that have been widely
piloted and independently
validated as effective,
innovative models. The Project
GRAD program components utilized
at Hamilton Middle School are
Communities In School, Move It
Math, and Consistency Management
and Cooperative Discipline.
Through a partnership with the
Houston Independent School
District, Project GRAD ensures
that children in economically
disadvantaged communities
succeed in graduating from high
school and have an opportunity
to go to college. Supported by a
strong feeder system approach,
which involves all the
elementary and middle schools
that feed into a high school in
the reform effort, and the
ongoing training and support
given to teachers and
administrators, Project GRAD's
program is uniquely effective.
Project GRAD awards a $4000
college scholarship to all
students who attend four years
of high school at a Project GRAD
school and fulfill other
requirements. |
